The City of Industry is located 17.6 miles (28.4 km) east of Los Angeles. It was incorporated on June 18, 1957 and has become the economic hub for the San Gabriel Valley. The city is almost entirely industrial, containing over 3,000 businesses employing 67,000 people, with only 264 residents as of the 2020 census, making it the third least populous city in the state. In the California State Legislature, the city is in the 22nd Senate District, represented by Democrat Susan Rubio, and in the 57th Assembly District. The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services operates the Pomona Health Center. The United States Postal Service is serving the City in Pomona, California, at 15559 Rausch Rd. The L.A. County Sheriff's Department operates the Industry Sheriff's Station in the City. The City's economy is based on manufacturing, distribution and industrial facilities, with the majority of the city's businesses being based in the industrial sector. It has a population of 264, according to the 2020 U.S. Census Bureau estimate. It is located in the SanGabriel Valley, which is home to more than 70% of the state's population, and is the second-largest city in Los Angeles, after San Diego, California. The population of Industry in the United States in the 2010 Census was 2,715, with a population growth rate of 1.7%. The city's population is expected to grow to 2,813,000 by the end of the 20th century.
Geography
The City of Industry is located 17.6 miles (28.4 km) east of Los Angeles. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.07 square miles (31.3 km²) of which 11.79 sq miles (30.5 sq km) of it is land and 0.28sq miles (0.73 sq km²), or 2.32% is water. The city is located in the San Fernando Valley, an area known as the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains. It is located on the San Gabriel River, which flows into the San Diego River. The San Fernando River is a tributary of the Los Angeles River, and runs through the city. It was named after Industry, California, where the city was founded in the 18th century. It has a population of about 2,000 people (2,000 in 2010) who live in or near the city's downtown area. It also has a small airport, which is located near the center of the city, called the Industry Airport. The City of industry was founded as a result of the development of the San Francisco Bay area in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In the early 20th century, Industry was known as "Industry" or "Industria" by locals. It became a city in the mid-19th century and is now a suburb of L.A. and the city is home to a number of businesses, including a bank.
History
The City of Industry was incorporated as a charter city on June 18, 1957. The Workman and Temple Family Homestead Museum is a museum and heritage site that is free and open to the public. In 1979/1980 a former landfill near Azusa Avenue was converted into the Industry Hills Golf Club, including a hotel and the Eisenhower golf course. In 1991, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the Youth Activities League was formed to offer sports to at-risk children as an alternative to gang activity. The city invested heavily in the development of a Metrolink transit station near the confluence of the 60 and 57 freeways in 1993. In 2004, the Environmental Impact Report and Design for the 57/60 Confluence Project was completed. In 1985, the inaugural Charity Pro Rodeo took place, to raise funds for youth in the San Gabriel Valley. The Rodeos still takes place annually. The City of industry was named for the goals and objectives section of the general plan which identified the primary goal of the city as "creating and maintaining an ideal setting for manufacturing, distribution and industrial facilities" In 1962, the City ofindustry Chamber of Commerce formed and in 1974, the Workman House became a historical landmark. In 1981, the Industry hills Expo Center opened as a community multi-purpose event facility. In 1993, the city opened the City's first Metrolinking station. In 2000, the first City ofIndustry MetrolINK station opened.
Government and infrastructure
In the California State Legislature, the City of Industry is in the 22nd Senate District and the 57th Assembly District. In the U.S. House of Representatives, the city is split between California's 32nd congressional district and California's 39th congressional district. The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services operates the Pomona Health Center in Pomona, serving Industry. The United States Postal Service City of industry Post Office is located at 15559 Rausch Rd. The city is opposing California's Senate Bill 415whose purpose is to counteract low voter turnoutwhich would force it to change election dates to coincide with LA County, California, and federal elections in even-numbered years (March effective in 2020 or November). The city's City Council members, composed of five members, are elected at large and the elections are held on a Tuesday after the first Monday in June of odd- numbered years. The council is made up of four Democrats and one Republican. The mayor is a Democrat, as is the city's mayor, a Republican, and the city council member, a Democrat. It is located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, which are known as the "City of foothills" because of their thinning foothills. It has a population of about 3,000 people. The City is located on the eastern edge of the Angeles National Forest, which is also known as "The Canyons" because it is the "Canyons National Forest" and is home to some of the most scenic areas of the Los Angeles area.
Emergency services
The L.A. County Sheriff's Department operates the Industry Station in the City of Industry. The station is located on the west side of the city. It is the only station in Los Angeles County with a sheriff's station on the east side. It provides emergency services for the city of Industry and its surrounding areas. It also provides an ambulance service for the Westside of Los Angeles. It was established in the 1950s and has been closed since the 1960s. It reopened in the 1990s and is still in operation today. It serves the city's west side and the West Side of the City. It has a total of four stations: one in the west, two in the east and three in the north. It opened in 1950 and was closed in the 1980s and 1990s, but reopened again in 2010. It operates a full-time ambulance service and an emergency services station. Economy
The City of Industry has no business taxes and is primarily funded through retail sales tax from shopping centers located within the city limits. The city has the highest property tax rate in Los Angeles County, at 1.92%. There is a revenue-generating hillside hotel resort, known as the Pacific Palms Resort (formerly the Industry Hills Sheraton), which is almost completely surrounded by the city of La Puente. City is a popular investment area for Chinese businesspeople and the city has also emerged as a high-tech import/export center for computer parts, with business links to the Asian marketplace. For convenience many Chinese entrepreneurs and staff live in nearby Rowland Heights, Hacienda Heights, West Covina, Diamond Bar and Walnut. It is also home to California State University, San Diego, which has a chapter of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCLEX). Demographics
At the 2010 census, the City of Industry had a population of 219. The population was 58.9% White, 0.5% Black or African American, and 8.2% Asian. There were 73 housing units at an average density of 6.1 per square mile, of the occupied units 22 (32%) were owner-occupied and 47 (68%) were rented. The median household income was $49,329, with 1.0% of the population living below the federal poverty line. The average household size was 3.1, with 53 families (77% of households) making up the city's population. The city's median age was 37.5 years, with 59 people (27%) under the age of 18, 25 people (11%) aged 18 to 24, 51 people (23%) aged 25 to 44, 62 people (28%) aged 45 to 64, and 22 people (10%) who were 65 or older. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.5 males. The census reported that 214 people (98%) lived in households, 5 (2%) live in non-institutionalized group quarters, and none were institutionalized. In the city, the average householder had a female householder with no husband present, and 9 (13%) had a male householders with no wife present. The town's median home value was $50,000, with the average family income of $47,000. The U.S. Census reported that the town's population was 219.
Education
The city is served by multiple school districts. Industry is home to Bishop Amat Memorial High School of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The city is also home to two community colleges: Mt. San Antonio College and Rio Hondo College. The City of Industry is part of the L.A. Unified School District, which also includes Rowland, Walnut Valley, and Pomona. It also has its own version of the Los Angeles County School District. It is also a member of the California City and School Districts, which have their own school districts, as well as one in the City of La Puente, which has a school district of its own. It has also had its own school district since the 1950s, the Hacienda-La Puente School District and the Rowland-Walnut Valley School District since the 1970s. It was the first school district to open in the city in the 1960s, and it is still the largest in the state, with more than 2,000 students. The district also has a high school, Workman High School, in Industry. The high school is in the City of Industry, and the city has a number of other high schools, including Rowland High School and the Pomona High School. The school district has a large number of high school seniors, including many students from the city of Industry and from the neighboring city of Bassett. The town also has one of the nation's largest high school enrollments, with over 1,200 students in the high school.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has a regional station on Hudson Avenue, just off Hacienda Boulevard. Los Angeles County Fire Department uses two stations (#118 on Gale Avenue, and Station #43 on Stimson Avenue on the west side of town). It also has one of the highest rates of violent crime in California, at 0.198 per 1,000 residents. It has the lowest per- Resident violent crime rates of any city in the U.S. out of the cities with more than 1,200 residents. The City of industry has a high rate of property crime, at 5.117. The highest rate of violent crimes in California is 0.028. The lowest rate is the 0.038 rate in the city of Los Angeles, which is the lowest in the entire state. The town has a low crime rate of 0.087 per 100 residents, the lowest rate in all of California.
Landmarks
The Workman and Temple Family Homestead Museum is a historic house and gardens museum of 19th-century and early-20th- century Southern California history and architecture. The property is entered on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum is home to the Workman-Temple family that were influential here and in the region. The Museum is open to the public on weekdays and on the weekends.
