Sorrento is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Lake County, Florida, United States. The population was 861 at the 2010 census, up from 765 at the 2000 census. It is part of the OrlandoKissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Sorrento CDP has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.3 km²), of which 0.02 sq miles (0.05 km²) is water. The town is located in eastern Lake County at 28°4828N 81°3349W (28.807872, -81.563571). It is bordered to the east by Mount Plymouth. Florida State Road 46 passes through Sorrente, leading west 5 miles (8km) to Mount Dora and east 19 miles (31 km) to Sanford. The CDP is in the Wekiva River watershed, which runs through Lake County and into the Atlantic Ocean. It has a population of 765, according to the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau report. The city is located on the Florida Panhandle, near the border with the state of Florida and the state capital of Tallahassee. The community is located near the intersection of Florida State Roads 46 and 33. It also is near the Florida Turnpike, which connects the city to the state's main highway, Florida State Highway 4. The village is located at the junction of Florida Highway 46 and Florida Highway 33, which links the cities of Orlando and Tampa.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the Sorrenti CDP has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.3 km²) of which 0.02 square miles are water. It has a population of 1,071. The town is located at 28.4828 N 81.3349 W (28.80 1978 F, 81.56 35 W), and has a 2010 population of 2,074. It was the site of the World War II Battle of the Bulge, which took place in World War I. The Battle was one of the deadliest battles in U.S. history, with more than 1,000 people killed. It took place near the town of Sanford, Florida, which is in Lake County. The battle was fought between the Army and the Army National Guard, which was based in the town at the time of the war. The war ended in the Battle of Gettysburg, and was followed by the Second World War, which ended in 1945. The city is now home to the University of South Florida.
