Ocean Isle Beach (Ocean Isle) is a small seaside town located in Brunswick County, North Carolina, United States. It was incorporated as a town in 1959 and is part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area. The town spans the barrier island of Ocean Isle Beach, extending 5 miles (8 km) from Tubbs Inlet on the west to Shallotte Inlets on the east. The beach runs east to west and offers a fishing pier, public boat launch facility, direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway, and beach paths every 500 feet (150 m) The Museum of Coastal Carolina offers dioramas on coastal life, a touch tank, a collection of Civil War and Native American artifacts, and a variety of interactive exhibits. According to the media reports, the construction of the new town hall located at 111 Causeway Drive is officially underway and it will expect to be completed in June of 2021. Due to a car collision two of the statues were destroyed, and the roundabout was also hit. Damage to the roundabouts has been repaired, along with one of the statue, but now only 2 of the 3 statues remain.Known as the "Gem of the Brunswick Islands", Ocean Isle beach is located along the coastal corridor between Wilmington, North. Carolina and Myrtle. Beach, South Carolina. It is located at 33°5340N 78°2620W (33.894558, -78.438895) and has a total area of 4.5 square miles (11.7 km²) The town has a population of 550.


Ocean Isle Beach is the primary city name, but also Ocean Isl Bch, Shallotte are acceptable city names or spellings, Ocean Isle on the other hand no longer accepted or obsolete and are no longer used as a designation. The official name is Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. Ocean Isle Beach is located in southwest Brunswick County at 33°5340N 78°2620W (33.894558, -78.438895) The town spans the barrier island of Ocean Isle Beach, extending 5 miles (8 km) from Tubbs Inlet on the west to Shallotte Inlets on the east. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 4.5 square miles (11.7 km²) of which 3.4 square miles is land (74.79%) and the balance water. The town hall located at 111 Causeway Drive is officially underway and it will expect to be completed in June. The new roundabout will include a brick retaining wall with Welcome to Ocean Isle beach along with three bronze statues of children playing with kites. Due to a car collision two of the statues were destroyed, and the roundabout was also hit. Only 2 of the 3 statues remain. No injuries have been reported. The museum's sister facility, located in nearby Sunset Beach, Ingram Planetarium, offers an 85-seat domed theater on astronomy, energy, navigation, and space exploration.

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0. 47% of the population. The town's median income was $67,639, and the median income for a family was $65,625. In the town, the population was spread out, with 10.3% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 17.8% from 25 to 44, 45. 3% from 45 to 64, and 21.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.04 and the average family size was2.40. The median age was 53 years, with every 100 females having a median age of 99.1 males. The per capita income for the town is $42,605. About 3.5% of families and 4.1%. of the residents were below the poverty line, including none of those under age 18 and 5.9% of those age 65 or over. In 2000, the town's population was 426, with 2,507 housing units at an average density of 731.0 per square mile (282.2/km²) The town has a population of 867, with a median income of $67.639.

Common Animals & Weather

Ocean Isle Beach is home to many animals, including deer, foxes, and Sea turtles. The frogs and toads are found near the western side of the island, with Toads coming out during the Summertime. For birds, Boat-Tailed Grackles, Doves, and Laughing Gulls are the most common. Some houses on the island have started to put up owl statues and ribbons to scare away the birds. Weather in Ocean Isle tends to be warm but varied, with the temperature averaging around 88F (31C) during theSummer of 2021. Rainfall is normal during the end of the Summer, and lightning storms are frequent. Hurricanes are also common and have been known to cause fires. The temperature is expected to be 88F in the Summer of 2021, and 58F (14C) in the Winter of 2020. It is expected that the temperature will be 58F in 2020, and 63F in 2021. The island is located in the British Overseas Territory of Dorset, and is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a population of around 2,000 people, with most of the residents living in the western part of the beach. The majority of the people live on the west side of Ocean Isle Beach, and the majority of them live in the eastern parts of the shoreline. The only exception to this is the eastern side, which has a large population of people living on the north coast. The western side is the only part of Ocean Island that is home for the majority.

Local Myths

A popular myth in Ocean Isle beach are the mysterious lights which floats over the ocean during the nighttime. It is unknown whether it is a drone, stars, or fishing boats. The anomaly has been reported to split apart into multiple lights before joining back together. After 510 minutes the lights disappear. Some accounts claim that they are alien UFOs. The story of "first street" is also relatively popular. One of the eastern streets of Ocean Isle was, at one point, flooded and is now engulfed underwater. Pieces of the remaining asphalt from the street have washed up on the beaches. To defend against future flooding, sandbags have been installed under the stilted houses on "second street" and the beaches have been manually expanded. As of 2022, the beaches on the east side of the island have been heavily cleaned and restored. The beaches have also been heavily expanded and cleaned to prevent future flooding on the island. The island has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2020. It will be the first time in the history of the world that it has been so. It was also the first place in the world to be named after a national holiday. It has also been the site of a World War II memorial. The town is also known for being a popular destination for tourists and tourists from the U.S. and Europe. The city has been home to many celebrities, including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, as well as many members of the Royal Family and the Queen of England.

Parks & Recreation

Brunswick County has completed a new 58-acre (23 ha) recreational park on the mainland. The park offers a variety of amenities, such as an amphitheater, festival grounds, ball parks, lighted tennis courts, and biking trails. This recreational park is located on Old Georgetown Road and is part of a $500,000 federal grant for parks throughout the county. Other projects scheduled is the Shallotte Blvd Recreation Area, which is a joint project between Ocean Isle Beach Land Conservancy and the Town ofOcean Isle Beach. The recreation area will have a gazebo, picnic tables, a fishing pier, and a walkway with steps to the sand. The Town of Ocean Isle is also about to finish a new town Hall with administration office next to the Fires station. Likewise. a children's play area and public gazEBEO are located on the eastern end of the island adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway, along with a concert stage. The town has recently finished a community area with an amphitoryater, playground, small water area and bathrooms. The community area will be at Shallotte Boulevard and the ferry landing at the East end ofthe island. It is also expected to be completed by the end of this year or early next year. It will be located near Shallotte Ave and the Intra-Racine Waterway. The area is expected to have a playground, a small play area, and bathrooms for children. It also will have an outdoor concert stage and a small children's area.

Best Restored Beach Award

The American Shore and Beach Preservation Association named Ocean Isle Beach the winner of its 2008 Best Restored Beach Award. The town lobbied members of Congress for federal funding and opened a capital reserve savings account to provide the local share of funding necessary for restoration. Coastal engineers began the project in 2001 and provided high-quality sand for the beach and created a deeper channel for boaters. Judging for the award was based on three criteria: the economic and ecological benefits the beach brings to its community; the short and long term success of the restoration project; and the challenges each community overcame during the course of the project. The award was given to the beach for its efforts to restore the beach after Hurricane Hugo devastated the area in 1989.

Extreme weather

In 2020, Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Ocean Isle Beach, as high end Category 1, causing significant damage to waterfront properties and the fishing pier. In 1989 Hurricane Hugo devastated the area, causing extensive damage to homes and businesses. In 2012, Hurricane Gustav made landfall, causing major damage to the area. In 2013, Hurricane Jeanne made landfall as a Category 4 storm. In 2014, Hurricane Ike made landfall in the Bahamas, causing serious damage to coastal areas. In 2015, Hurricane Nate made landfall on the coast of New England, causing severe damage to beaches and homes. In 2016, Hurricane Hector hit the coast, causing damage to many homes and properties. In 2017, Hurricane Isaac made landfall again, causing further damage. In 2018, Hurricane Gonzalo made landfall and caused significant damage in the state of New Hampshire, causing a number of deaths and injuries. In 2019, Hurricane Willliam made landfall at the end of the year, causing more damage to New Hampshire and New Jersey. The storm was a Category 3 storm. It is expected to make a second landfall in 2020, this time as a high-end Category 1 storm. The damage will be much more extensive than the first time in the history of the state, and will be blamed on a combination of factors, including strong winds and heavy rains. In the past, the area has been hit by several Category 4 storms, including Hurricane Hugo in 1989 and Hurricane Ernesto in 1991. The area has also been the site of several Category 5 storms, such as Hurricane Ike in 1998.
