Twin Lake is an unincorporated community in Muskegon County of the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the community population was 1,613. Local government services are provided by Dalton Township. It is the home of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, the YMCA's Camp Pinewood, and the Boy Scouts' Gerber Scout Reservation and Owasippe Scout Res reservation. The community has a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.5 km²), of which 2.4 squaremile (6.2 km²) is land and 0.5 square mile (1.3km²) (17.93%) is water. The Twin Lake ZIP code 49457 serves a much larger area, including much of northern and eastern Dalton Township, most of Cedar Creek Township to the east, parts of northern Egelston Township andMuskegon Township to south, much of Blue lake Township to north and the southwest corner of Holton Township. The ZIP Code 49457 also serves the nearby North Lake and West Lakes in the northeast corner of Dalton Township and the nearby East Lake and North Lake lakes in the southeast corner of the county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 2.9 square miles (7.5 km²) of which 2.4square miles (6.2km²) is land and 0.5square miles ("1.3 km²") (17.93%) is water. The community's population was 1,071 at the 2010 census. It has a population of 1,081. The town is located in the eastern part of the state, near the state line with New Mexico. It is located on the main line between New Mexico and Nevada. The population of the community is 1,061, according to the United States Census Bureau. The area has a latitude and longitude of 7.5 kilometers (3.5 miles and 6.2 miles, respectively). It is the only community in the state to have a population over 1,000, and has a long-term population growth rate of more than 1%. The community has an elevation of 2,074.5 meters (7,854.5 feet) and a longitude is 3,856.5 metres (9,858.5 ft) The community is located near the U S. state line with Nevada. It was founded in the early 1900s. The state's first post office was established in the town in 1808. The current post office opened in 1809. It closed in the mid-20th century.
