Horseshoe Bay is a city in Llano and Burnet counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located on Lake Lyndon B. Johnson and the south branch of the Colorado River. Prior to its incorporation in September 2005, it was a census-designated place (CDP). The 2010 census put the population at 3,418. The 2020 Decennial Census reported population was 4,257. The city has a total area of 11.6 square miles (30.1 km²), of which 11.4 square miles. (29.5 km²) is land and 0.23 sq miles (0.6 km²). It is about 28 miles (45 km) southeast of Llano, about 8 miles (13 km) west of Marble Falls, and 51 miles (82 km) northwest of downtown Austin. The Llano County portion is served by the Llano Independent School District. The Burnet County portion of Horseshoes Bay is served. by the Marble Falls Independent School district. The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to "Cfa" on climate maps. It has a humid subtropical climate, according to the Köppen Climate Classification system, with a humid continental climate (Cfa) climate of "Csb" on the climate map. The area is known in the region for its golf courses, hotel and resort, and water sports. It also has a golf course and resort.

It is about 28 miles (45 km) southeast of Llano, about 8 miles (13 km) west of Marble Falls, and 51 miles (82 km) northwest of downtown Austin. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.6 square miles (30.1 km²), of which 11.4 sq miles (29.5 km²) is land and 0.23sq miles (0.6 km²)," or 1.83% is water. The city is located on the shores of Lake LBJ, one of the largest lakes in the United States. It has a population of about 2,000. It was founded in the early 1900s by settlers from Texas. The town is located in the eastern part of the state, near the border with New Mexico. Horseshoes Bay was named after the bay's first inhabitants, who lived in the area in the late 1800s and early 1800s. The current mayor of the city is a native of the town, who was born in the town in the mid-19th century. He was elected to the city's first city council in the 1950s. He served as mayor in the 1980s.

It is the only school district in the area to serve the Burnets and Llano counties. It was founded in the early 1900s and is based in Marble Falls, Texas. The school district was formed in the late 1950s. It has been in the same location since the early 1960s. The district was once known as Marble Falls Elementary School. It closed in the mid-1970s and was replaced by Marble Falls High School. The current school district began in the 1980s and has served the area since the mid-'90s. In the early 2000s, the school district merged with Marble Falls to form Marble Falls-Llano High School, which is still in operation today. The high school district also serves Burnet and Burnet counties, which were once part of the same school district. It opened a new high school, Marble Falls Preparatory School, in 2008. In 2010, the district added a middle school and a high school. It now has a total of 12 schools. It also has a middle and high schools, including a charter school, which opened in 2010. The elementary school is located on the shores of the lake. The middle school is on the shore of the water.
